LAHORE: Punjab caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi Monday made a surprise visit to Model Bazaar, Thokar Niaz Baig and reviewed the arrangements for the supply of free flour.

The chief minister inquired about the supply of flour from men and women at the model bazaar. People at the model bazaar complained to the chief minister about their non-registration in the Benazir Income Support Programme. Mohsin Naqvi listened to the complaints of citizens and issued instructions to resolve them on the spot.

“The problem is being solved by the federal government authorities and the Benazir Income Support Programme,” he stated. A 65-year-old scrap dealer succumbed to his injuries in Mian Munshi Hospital on Monday after allegedly being tortured by Islampura Police in Lahore.

Sheikh Munir Ahmed, the deceased, was allegedly subjected to torture two days ago by four police officers of the Akram Park Chowki Police Station. The relatives of the deceased alleged that the above-mentioned police officers had demanded a bribe of Rs15,000 from the elderly man.

“His condition deteriorated after being tortured and he was shifted to the hospital where he could not survive and died,” said relatives. They demanded that a case should be registered against the police officers involved in the incident.
