Coalition govt intends to strengthen judiciary, parliament: Irfan Qadir

Islamabad, May 29, 2023 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Irfan Qadir has said resolution of conflict within the judiciary and upholding the principle of seniority-cum-fitness in the appointment of judges is the panacea to end the present crisis in the country. Addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Monday, he said the Supreme Court should focus on resolution of its internal differences for the sake of political and economic stability in the country.

He said judges should be elevated on the basis of seniority as it seems hard for a junior judge, who got out of turn promotion, to maintain his independence. Irfan Qadir said the coalition government intends to strengthen the judiciary and the parliament. He said it would be better for every institution, including the judiciary, to remain within its constitutional domain.
