On the eve of Human Rights Day, Senior Psychologist at the Women Development Department Hyderabad today, Syeda Qurat-ul-Ain Shah, delivered a powerful message emphasizing the ongoing struggle for gender equality and the protection of women’s rights.
Reflecting on the conclusion of the 16-day campaign against gender-based violence, which aimed to raise global awareness, she said that the campaign was not the end of the fight but rather a reminder of the continuous efforts required to ensure equality and dignity for all.
Shah stressed that, while today marks the end of the campaign, the struggle must persist daily. She called for collective action to ensure the eradication of gender-based violence and to guarantee that every individual, especially women and girls, enjoys the right to equality and respect.
“We must make it a commitment to protect human rights, particularly women’s rights, not just during these 16 days but throughout the year,” she said.
On Human Rights Day, Shah urged individuals to integrate this fight into their daily lives, within homes, schools, offices, and communities. By doing so, she believed we could create a society where every person can breathe without fear or discrimination. Shah concluded with a call to solidarity, emphasizing that defending women’s rights and standing together is the key to establishing a just and equitable society.
