Commercial Banks to be bound to lend loans to growers: Muhammad Ismail Raho

Karachi, November 06, 2018 (PPI-OT): Sindh Minister for Agriculture, Supply and Prices Muhammad Ismail Raho has said that government will soon announce Sindh Agriculture Policy for the promotion of agri farming in the Province for better yield. He stated this while presiding over first meeting in respect of Sindh Agriculture Policy 2018-2030 on Monday at his office.

He said that recommendations of all relevant stake holders would be incorporated into the policy to make it comprehensive and target oriented. He said that modern farming was need of hour for getting better yield and improving food security. In this regard he added that Chinese model would be followed and Chinese experts’ cooperation would be sought.

He added that sowing of vegetables and fruits and other cash crops would be encouraged in addition to major crops like wheat, rice, cotton and sugar cane. Provincial minister also announced to introduce mobile application for the guidance of growers and farmers. He emphasized upon participants of meeting to present their recommendations in next meeting so that Sindh Agriculture Policy could be given final consideration at the earliest.

Meeting was attended by Secretary Agriculture Agha Zaheeruddin, representatives of World Bank, Food and Agriculture Organization, Sindh Abadgar Board, Whole Seller and Exporters officers of agriculture, forest and wild life, livestock and fisheries, commerce, finance and planning and development department.
