Jammu, April 13, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown was observed in Bhaderwah area of Doda district, today, to remember the victims of a massacre by Indian troops in 1990. Three civilians were killed and dozens others injured on this day in 1990 in the indiscriminate firing on peaceful protesters by the troops at Seri Bazaar in Bhaderwah.
All shops and other businesses establishments remained closed to mourn the killing of the civilians. President of Anjuman Islamia, Bhaderwah, Pervez Ahmed Sheikh, who had called for shutdown, said that today’s shutdown was observed to remember the martyrs of 1990.
“This is the darkest day in the history of Bhaderwah as on this particular day in 1990 Indian forces opened fire on peaceful protesters killing several innocent people at Seri Bazaar, Bhadarwah. We can never forget those innocent people who sacrificed their lives on this day,” he said.
