Srinagar, February 21, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Kashmir Career Counselling Association (KCCA) has expressed concern over continued attacks and harassment being faced by Kashmiri students studying in colleges and universities of India. KCCA spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar urged the India Government to ensure the safety and security of the Kashmiri students enrolled in different colleges and universities of India.
He deplored that soon after the February 14 Pulwama blast, Kashmiris have been attacked and beaten in different parts of India. At numerous places, the Kashmiris pursuing educational courses or doing business were threatened of dire consequences if they didn’t return to Kashmir, he added. Meanwhile, the traders assembled at Hari Singh High Street in Srinagar and held a protest march to condemn the attacks on Kashmiris.
Shiv Kumar from West Bengal, who has been working as a labourer in Kashmir for the past 15 years and was part of the protest march, said: “In Kashmir, we have always found every Kashmiri Muslim extending support to us. We are as safe as at our homes.” He added that despite all the bad news coming from various states of India, they didn’t face any trouble in Kashmir. “Kashmir is the best example of unity among all religions and brotherhood,” he maintained. His colleagues also expressed similar views while urging people of the Indian states not to harass Kashmiris in any form.
Rakesh, a non-local businessman, said authorities must act against the elements responsible for inciting attacks against Kashmiris in different states of India. “I have completed my graduation in Srinagar. Later, I started business here. There is not a single incident of threat or attack against non-locals as people in Kashmir believe in and live with communal harmony and brotherhood,” he said. Condemning the attacks on Kashmiris, he said authorities must tighten the noose on miscreants responsible for attacks and organizing mobs to attack Kashmiris in Indian cities.
