ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf on Thursday said that golden jubilee celebration of constitution is an occasion to emphasize that constitution is the only document that would lead the nation on the path of progress and development.
He said celebrating constitution would be held simultaneously at national and international level. He said constitution is the soul of state which ensures unflinching bond between people and the state.
According to a press release, he expressed these views while chairing the National Assembly Advisory Committee to celebrate golden jubilee of the constitution. Federal Minister for information and Broadcasting Maryam Aurangzeb briefed the participants.
She said golden jubilee celebrations would start from April 8, 2023. She also briefed the meeting in details about curtain raiser. She said NADRA is finalizing a mobile app “know your constitution. Chairman NADRA informed the committee that NADRA App is being finalized. He said finalizing information, brief about the working and preparations of PTV and Radio Pakistan, their broadcasting and all things like quiz competition and talk shows are being prepared.
She also informed that activities have been planned by external publicity wing to arrange specialist event in all foreign diplomatic mission and embassies. Convener National Advisory Committee- former Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani directed to ensure prominence and long term stability of Constitution monument.
National Assembly Speaker proposed to consider D-Chowk location for building monument. He said these celebrations would be taken up at provincial and federal level. He also appreciated the initiatives taken by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Member Advisory Committee Farhatullah Babar proposed that as implementation of constitution is commemorating sacrifices rendered by every segment of society should be celebrated.
Convener Women Parliamentary Cactus Shaihida Rahmani said woman rights which are enshrined in 1973 constitution should be taught at all educational level. She stressed on the need to initiate awareness campaigns regarding women rights especially women college and universities should be focus.
Chairman NADRA briefed the participants that mobile app ‘Know your Constitution’ would be ready till 1Oth of April. He also said that renovation of State Bank Hall would be started after finalizing the estimation. MNA Mahnaz Abkar Aziz expressed her satisfaction that declamation contests were held across the country.
MNA Ms Asia Azeem appreciated the initiatives taken by the Federal Directorate of Special Education, which remained wonderfully professional in their declamation contest. Later on Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf also addressed a press conference to highlight the basic contours of the golden jubilee celebration. He said a comprehensive set of activities have been arranged for celebrating.
He briefed the media representatives that three day convention would be held in Parliament. He said constitution is the document which has kept all of us united. Replying to a question regarding judicial reforms taken by incumbent parliament, he said maintaining sanctity of parliament would continue to be our main goal. He said all political parties would be invited golden jubilee celebration.
