Construction work on extension of Kachhi Canal to be completed by August next year, NA told

Islamabad, September 21, 2021 (PPI-OT):The National Assembly was informed on Tuesday that the construction work on extension of Kachhi Canal would be completed by August next year. Replying a calling attention notice, raised by MNA Munawara Bibi Baloch in the house, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan said Kachhi Canal is very important project for Balochistan province. He said the project’s phase-1, Part-II would be fully functional by 2023. He said 120 million rupees have been earmarked for the project in current fiscal year.

Ali Muhammad Khan said the project’s phase-1 will enable the province to irrigate 72,000 acres land and after completion of the remaining works, it will irrigate another 30,000 acres. The total area irrigated by the project would be 102,000 acres. Two bills were introduced in the House today. These include “The Islamabad Capital Territory Prevention of Beggary Bill, 2021 and “The Contractors Registration Bill, 2021. The chair referred the bills to the standing committees of the House. The House will now meet again tomorrow at four p.m.
