Coronavirus can cause 80, 000 deaths during its peak in Pakistan

KARACHI:Vice chancellor Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) Prof Mohammad Saeed Quraishy has said that international experts have declared 13th August to 16th August as a peak time for coronavirus, and they fear that it can cause deaths of 80,000 Pakistanis.

We can’t stop this destructive pandemic but we can decrease death toll by strictly taking precautionary measures. In Vietnam, people began wearing masks in early February, the epidemic has affected only 700 to 800 people there, while we see hundreds of people out every day, and only a few of them are wearing masks. This level of carelessness can increase significant damage not decrease it.

Addressing to an Online Webinar on “Current situation of COVID19 and Our responsibility” conducted by Islamic Medical Learners Associations (IMLA), which was also addressed by Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman and Mufti Taqi Usmani, said University College London experts have expressed concern over the deteriorating Corona virus situation in Pakistan. According to a report, 40% of the population in Baluchistan is affected by Corona. The overall situation in the country is deteriorating instead of improving.

Mufti Taqi Usmani said that strict precautions are necessary. No one is denying their importance but the conspiracy theories on social media and other sources are spreading confusion among the people. he said Corona is a fact, it is not a conspiracy, adding now it is the responsibility of scholars and doctors to encourage people to take precautions.
