(Court): ATC acquits five accused in two policemen’s murder case

Karachi:An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday acquitted five accused in targeted killing case of two police officers, Station House Officer (SHO) Nasirul Hassan and Constable Khurram Butt.

The ATC court heard a case against five accused Ubaid K2, Ishtiaq Police-wala, Khawaja Faisal, Shakir and Zakir Hussain and it acquitted them after tribunal failed to prove charges against them in two police officers murder case.

According to the lawyers, there were contradictions in the statement of eyewitnesses, and the police failed to produce substantial evidence to prove charges against the accused. The counsel of the accused persons argued that no single evidence was produced against his clients.

It may be noted that two motor bikers had gunned down SHO Brigade police station Nasirul Hassan and his guard, head Constable Khurram Butt, in Brigade area in July 2010. The case was registered at Brigade police station. According to the police, two policemen had completed a round of snap checking and were on their way back to the police station when they were killed.
