ISLAMABAD: A district and sessions court on Monday restored the non-bailable arrest warrants of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case. The court directed to arrest Imran Khan and present him before the court on March 18. The court rejected the petition of Imran Khan, in which he sought exemption from personal appearance in the case before the court.
The court noted that it is the job of police to bring Imran Khan to the court. The Islamabad High Court (IHC) last week had suspended the non-bailable arrest warrants of Imran Khan issued by an additional sessions judge of the federal capital Zafar Iqbal, for his continuous failure to appear before the court.
The IHC, however, had directed Imran Khan to ensure that he appears before the court on March 13. However, on Monday, when the additional sessions judge took up the case for hearing, Imran Khan filed a plea seeking exemption from personal appearance. In the exemption plea, Imran Khan cited security threats, which the court rejected.
