(Court): Police submits chalan seeking PSX attack case as C Class

Karachi:Sindh police on Tuesday submitted a chalan in anti-terrorism court asking it to declare Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) attack case in C Class as the facilitator of the attack could not be arrested yet. The police added in the chalan that this case may be declared C Class as the accused and facilitator involved in the attack would be presented before the court if they are arrested.

It has been mentioned in the chalan that four armed men Salman, Saleem, Siraj and an unidentified man had attacked the stock exchange on 29 June, 2020. The challan said that the car was purchased by Salman from a showroom located at Old Sabzi Mandi by paying cash for which he had also submitted his original CNIC, the record of which was possessed by the Excise Department.

It is also said in the chalan that all attackers belonged to Balochistan while their mobile Sims were being activated on different names in Punjab. The forensic report of mobile phones used by the accused had not been received yet. “We tried to trace and arrest the facilitator and supporter of attackers but could not be successful,” the chalan states. The court has forwarded chalan to ATC court 15 for further inquiry.

On 29 June 2020, armed men launched a hand grenade attack on Pakistan Stock Exchange in Karachi. The attackers, armed with grenades and automatic rifles, launched the attack and attempted to enter the PSX compound. According to police, one sub-inspector and three security guards were martyred in the attack. Seven people, including three police officials were injured. However, four armed men were killed during the shootout after the operation of eight minutes.
