ISLAMABAD: A district and sessions court in Islamabad on Tuesday rejected the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) petition seeking an early hearing in the Toshakhana case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan.

Additional Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal, after hearing arguments from both sides, held that the hearing in the case will be held on April 29, which was fixed earlier. Imran Khan is facing charges of corrupt practices related to the state gift depository.

Advocates Khawaja Haris Ahmad and Faisal Chaudhry appeared before the court for Imran Khan, while advocate Amjad Pervez appeared for the ECP. The case was registered by the ECP against Imran Khan after he was found guilty of unlawfully selling gifts from foreign dignitaries and heads of state.
