Court seeks police report on major Gogoi’s detention

Srinagar, May 27, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) of Srinagar has sought a report from a police pertaining to detention of notorious Indian Army Major, Leetul Gogoi in a Srinagar hotel. According to Kashmir Media Service, the CJM issued the direction after hearing a petition filed by human rights activist and Chairman of International Forum of Justice (IFJ), Muhammad Ahsan Untoo. The next hearing of the case has been fixed on May 30.

The petitioner prayed that the court direct SSP of Srinagar, SP of North, and SHO of Police Station, Khanyar, to appear before the court to explain why FIR was not lodged against Major Gogoi. The petition stated that it was crystal clear that Major Gogoi had booked the room for some ulterior designs. However, the hotel staff had objected and denied him accommodation.
