(Court): SHC issues notice to NAB on bail plea of former secretary

Karachi:The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday issued a notice to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on a bail plea filed by former secretary local government Roshan Ali Shaikh in a case pertaining to illegal allotment of a government land in Landhi.

The former secretary approached SHC for the bail in the land allotment case. The court issued the notice to NAB and summoned its reply in the next hearing of the plea. The court adjourned the hearing till 6th October.

It may be noted that NAB had arrested Sindh’s Secretary, Local Government Roshan Ali Shaikh from the Sindh High Court on 24 August 2020 over his suspected involvement in a case pertaining to the illegal allotment of the government land. The reference against Shaikh and others is under proceeding in an accountability court.

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and the Sindh Board of Revenue had filed a reference against Shaikh and others, accusing them of allotting 265 acres of government land illegally. The land, which was located in Landhi, was illegally allotted to the small cottage industry.
