COVID-19 claims 20 more lives, infects 2,517 others

Karachi, July 27, 2021 (PPI-OT):Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that as many as 20 more patients of Coronavirus died overnight lifting the death toll to 5,860 and 2,517 new cases emerged when 18,737 tests were conducted. This he stated in a statement issued here on Tuesday. He added that 20 more patients of COVID-19 lost their lives lifting the death toll to 5,860 that constituted 1.6 percent death rate. Mr. Murad Ali Shah said that 18,737 samples were tested which detected 2,517 cases that constituted 13.4 percent current detection rate.

He added that so far 4,927,434 tests have been conducted against which 371,745 cases were diagnosed, of them 88.8 percent or 330,166 patients have recovered, including 6590 overnight. The CM said that currently 35,719 patients were under treatment; of them 34,405 were in home isolation, 45 at isolation centres and 1,269 at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 1,137 patients was stated to be critical, including 96 shifted to ventilators.

According to the statement, out of 2,517 new cases, 1,989 have been detected from Karachi. According to the report Karachi East 645, Karachi South 372, Karachi Central 357, Korangi 346, Malir 200, Karachi West 69. Hyderabad has 93, Sanghar 59, Mirpurkhas 45, Jamshoro 42, Badin 38, Tharparkar 34, Tando Muhammad Khan 31, Matiari 27, Umerkot 24, Dadu 22, Sujawal 13, Naushero Feroze eight, Ghotki seven, Kashmore six, Khairpur four, Shaheed Benazirabad three, Thatta two, Jacobabad, Shikarpur and Sukkur one each. Murad Ali Shah urged people to abide by the SOPs issued by the government.
