COVID-19 claims 9 more patients, infects 498 others

Karachi, October 05, 2021 (PPI-OT): As many as 9 more patients of Coronavirus died overnight lifting the death toll to 7,451 and 498 new cases emerged when 11,823 tests were conducted. This was stated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued here on Tuesday. He added that 9 more patients of COVID-19 lost their lives lifting the death toll to 7,451 that constituted 1.6 percent death rate.

 

Mr. Shah said that 11,823 samples were tested which detected 498 cases that constituted 4.2 percent current detection rate. He added that so far 6,097,592 tests have been conducted against which 460,401 cases were diagnosed, of them 93.6 percent or 431,090 patients have recovered, including 585 overnight. The CM said that currently 21,860 patients were under treatment, of them 21,503 were in home isolation, 31 at isolation centres and 326 at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 321 patients was stated to be critical, including 24 shifted to ventilators.

 

According to the statement, out of 498 new cases, 102 have been detected from Karachi, including 28 from South and Korangi each, 22 East, 12 West, 8 Central and 4 Malir. Hyderabad has 114, Sujawal 26, Shaheed Benazirabad 24, Tharparkar 23, Badin 22, Shikarpur and Tando Allahyar 20 each, Matiari, Sukkur and Sanghar 19 each, Mirpurkhas 15, Dadu 14, Umerkot 13, Ghotki 12, Jacobabad 11, Tando Muhammad Khan 10, Kashmore and Larkana 2 each, Thatta 1. The chief minister urged people of the province to follow SOPs.
