COVID-19 situation: Sindh has 14 deaths, 1,443 new cases

Karachi, January 15, 2021 (PPI-OT): As many as 14 more patients of COVID-19 died overnight lifting the death toll to 3,769 and 1,443 new cases emerged when 13,340 tests were conducted. This was stated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued here on Friday. He added that 14 more patients of Coronavirus died overnight lifting the death toll to 3,769 that constituted 1.6 percent death rate.

The CM said that 13,340 samples were tested against which 1,443 cases were diagnosed constituting 10.8 percent detection rate. He added that so far 2,552,182 tests have been conducted which detected 233,396 cases, of them 91 percent or 212,266 patients have recovered, including 1492. Mr Shah said that currently 17,361 patients were under treatment, of them 16,402 were in home isolation, 13 at isolation centers and 946 at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 864 patients was stated to be critical, including 102 shifted to ventilators.

According to the statement, out of 1,443 new patients, 1,140 have been detected from Karachi, including 483 from South, 262 East, 124 Korangi, 111 Central, 89 Malir and 71 West. Hyderabad has 74 new cases, Badin 28, Mirpurkhas 25, Shaheed Benazirabad 24, Thatta 18, Matiari 16, Dadu 13, Jamshoro 11, Nausheroferoze 10, Jacobabad and Larkana eight each, Ghotki six, Kambar and Khairpur four each, Sukkur and Umarkot three each, Kashmore two and Sanghar one. The CM urged people of the province to follow SOPs.
