Covid claims 17 more lives, infects 1624 others

Karachi, December 12, 2020 (PPI-OT): Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that 17 more patients died, lifting the death toll to 3149 and 1624 new cases emerged when 13393 tests were conducted, raising the tally to 194359.

In a statement issued here from CM House on Saturday, he said 17 more patients lost their lives lifting the death toll to 3149 that constituted 1.6 percent death rate.

The CM said 13393 samples were tested which diagnosed 1624 cases that constituted 12.1 percent. He added that so far 2137976 tests have been conducted against which 194359 cases were detected, of them 86 percent are 166492 patients recovered, including 1026 overnight.

Mr Shah said that currently 24718 patients were under treatment, of them 23841 were in home isolation, 16 at isolation centers and 861 at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 769 patients was stated to be critical including 90 shifted to ventilators.

According to Murad Ali Shah, out of 1624 new cases, 1289 have been detected from Karachi; 448 from South, 400 East, 174 central, 122 Malir, 104 Korangi, and West 41. Sanghar has 51 cases, Hyderabad 47, Dadu 27, Ghotki 26, Badin and Jamshoro 13 each, Larkana 11, Matiari nine, Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benazirabad, Shikarpur and Kambhar eight each, Umerkot and Khairpur six each, Naushehroferoze and Sukkur four each, Thatta and Tandoalahyar 3 each, Tando Muhmmad Khan and Kashmore one each.

The Chief Minister urged people of the province to abide by the SOPs issued by the government.
