CPEC is focus of conspiracies by enemies of Pakistan: Shah Faisal Afridi

Chambers of Commerce Press Release

Lahore, August 19, 2016 (PPI-OT): CPEC is center of attention of people but unfortunately it is also focus of conspiracies by enemies who do not want to see Pakistan making progress and development. It was stated by Shah Faisal Afridi, President Pak-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry in a press statement issued today.

Afridi maintained that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) could be a fate changer, but only if Pakistan succeeded in overcoming its security challenges. He told that Chinese would have invested 10 times more in Pakistan over the last few decades, if the security situation had been better. He said Pakistan needed to handle not only the security challenges at home, but it also needed to contribute towards promoting regional stability.

According to Faisal Afridi, the security of the CPEC should always remain top priority and he encouraged that the concerned authorities have moved swiftly to raise the required security division. He pointed that its raising is a strong message to the enemy that Pakistan is determined to implement each and every project under the umbrella of CPEC and would brave all challenges in this regard.

Faisal Afridi was confident that personnel of the security Division are vigilant enough to cope with the thwarting designs of the local and foreign conspirators. However, he mentioned that the issue of provision of security to CPEC should not only be confined to the security of field projects who live in rented houses in cities including Islamabad and foolproof arrangements should be made for their security as well.

He further informed that about 8,000 Chinese workers are presently on 210 projects in Pakistan while 7,000 additional workers are expected for executing multi-billion projects along the proposed routes. He asserted that media and academics should play a positive deflecting, malicious and misleading propaganda by highlighting the significance of the CPEC for Pakistan, by creating awareness about efforts to sabotage the CPEC, asserted Afridi.

Afridi explicated that it needs to be realized by every single person criticizing CPEC that presently, industry in Pakistan is not producing enough goods for the consumption of country’s own demand. He informed that Pakistan and China proposed 29 industrial parks and 21 mineral zones across the country which will enable Pakistan to produce the goods for its public demand.

Through more foreign investment young and educated people will get more benefits by getting jobs in new industrial parks and mineral zones. Afridi reiterated that the CPEC and industrial parks will bring up the people from the poverty line and will bring a new look to country’s economic market. Pakistan will be able to export more public goods and related material in international markets. Through the CPEC bilateral trade between Pakistan and China will exceed and thus China-Pakistan Economic Corridor will be a fate changer for Pakistan.
