On the special directives of Chairman CDA, Chief Commissioner Islamabad, and Director General Civil Defense Muhammad Ali Randhawa, a joint operation was launched on Friday by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) against illegal cattle markets (unauthorized sale points) established across the federal capital.
The campaign was spearheaded by Dr Anam Fatima, Deputy Director General (Enforcement) and Director Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA), who supervised the formation of special monitoring teams to control the illegal sale of sacrificial animals in the run-up to Eid-ul-Azha.
These teams were accompanied by concerned Assistant Commissioners and Magistrates from the district administration, ensuring round-the-clock enforcement operations across the city.
As a result of these efforts, 103 illegal cattle markets were dismantled in areas including Pakistan Town, Gagri, VIP Ghouri, Sanam Chowk, Kuri Road, Tanda Pani, Park Road, Islamabad Expressway, IJP Road, Saidpur, Murree Road, Sector E-11, GT Road green belts, roadsides, and vacant government plots. A total of 1,675 animals were confiscated and relocated to designated government cattle markets.
The CDA and MCI are urging the public to visit only the officially designated livestock markets located at Bhandar Stop (Japan Road), Zia Masjid, Sultana Foundation, Sangjani GT Road, and Sector I-12, where all basic facilities – including veterinary services, water, sanitation, and security-have been provided.
Authorities have strictly warned that individuals found establishing or participating in illegal cattle markets will face legal action, including confiscation of animals and imposition of fines.
This campaign is part of a broader government initiative to ensure cleanliness, discipline, and urban aesthetics in Islamabad during Eid-ul-Azha.
