KARACHI:An important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Sindh Dr. Muhammad Sohail Rajput at Sindh Secretariat. The meeting was briefed about Hyderabad-Sukkur M-6 Motorway. The meeting was attended by Secretary General Administration Muhammad Hanif Channa, Secretary Implementation and Coordination Riaz Hussain Soomro while Commissioner Hyderabad, Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad and Commissioner Sukkur along with concerned Deputy Commissioners have attended the meeting through video link.

Presiding over the meeting, Chief Secretary Sindh Dr. Muhammad Sohail Rajput said that a 306 km Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway would be constructed under CPEC and this 6 lane M-6 Motorway will pass through Jamshoro, Hyderabad, Matiari, Shaheed Benazirabad, Nowshero Feroze, Khairpur and Sukkur districts. He added that a bridge would also be built on the M-6 motorway on the Indus River between Jamshoro and Hyderabad.

The Chief Secretary Sindh further said that M-6 is a very important project and the federal and provincial governments are paying close attention to it. During the meeting, officials of Irrigation Department said that a hydraulic study was being carried out for the bridge over the Indus River and the NHA would be informed once the study is completed. In the meeting, the Chief Secretary Sindh directed all the concerned Deputy Commissioners to complete the acquisition of land for M-6 Motorway by July this year.

In the meeting, the Chief Secretary Sindh said that the prices of essential commodities should be controlled during the month of holy Ramadan and the rates issued by the government should be fully implemented. He directed all the commissioners and deputy commissioners to set up Bachat bazaars during the last ten days of Ramadan so that the people could get essential items at reasonable prices in these bazaars.
