A high-level meeting, chaired by Chief Secretary Sindh Asif Hyder Shah, was held here on Thursday to review the law and order situation in the Katcha area. The meeting was attended by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon, Commissioner Sukkur, DIG Sukkur, Commissioner Larkana, and DIG Larkana, along with other senior officials.
According to a handout of Sindh Information Department, the IGP briefed the participants on the significant progress made during police operations in the Katcha region since January 1, 2024. He informed that during the operations, 76 dacoits were killed, 115 injured, and 363 arrested. As a result of these actions, several areas have been cleared of criminal elements, leading to remarkable progress in restoring peace and security.
Shah commended the efforts of the police and law enforcement agencies in restoring peace and security to the troubled area. He urged them to maintain a coordinated approach to sustain these achievements and ensure long-term stability in the region.
‘The government is committed to supporting law enforcement agencies by equipping them with modern tools and resources,’ said Shah. ‘Restoring peace and ensuring public safety remain the government’s top priorities.’
The meeting also emphasized the need for close collaboration between the police and the district administration to address the underlying challenges of maintaining law and order in the Katcha area. The Chief Secretary directed all institutions to work together to safeguard the residents and prevent the resurgence of criminal activities.
Participants deliberated on future challenges and their potential solutions, with Shah directing the preparation of a comprehensive plan to address these issues. He assured the participants that the government would spare no effort in ensuring the success of the operations and the safety of the residents.
Shah reiterated the government’s resolve to modernize the law enforcement agencies to strengthen their operational capabilities. He pledged to provide the necessary resources and technological advancements to enable police forces to carry out their duties more effectively.
The meeting concluded with a unanimous resolve to utilize all available resources to establish and maintain peace in the Katcha area. Officials reaffirmed their commitment to creating a safe environment for residents and ensuring the rule of law in the region.
