Curbs, sealing of Martyrs’ Graveyard condemned

Srinagar,
July 13, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Hurriyat forum led by Mirwaiz
Umar Farooq has strongly condemned the imposition of curbs, sealing of Martyrs’
Graveyard at Naqshband Sahib in Srinagar to pay tributes to the 1931 martyrs
and house detention of Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.

The
Hurriyat forum in a statement issued in Srinagar said deplored that as per
schedule, the Mirwaiz had to lead a procession from Srinagar’s historic Jamia
Masjid to the Martyrs’ Graveyard at Naqashband Sahib to pay glowing tributes to
the martyrs but it was foiled through military might.

It was
on the 13th of July 1931 when the troops of Dogra Maharaja had killed 22
Kashmiris, one after the other, outside Central Jail in Srinagar during the
court proceedings against one Abdul Qadeer who had asked Kashmiri people to
defy the Dogra rule.

The
statement said that the entire valley had been converted into a military
garrison and hundreds of Hurriyat leaders and activists have been languishing
in different jails of India and the occupied territory. It said that the people
of Kashmir would continue their struggle for securing their birth right to
self-determination till taking it to its logical conclusion.
