LARKANA:The condition of Medical Unit-II of the Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH), Larkana, has become very dangerous but the health department has so far failed to release funds for its repair and renovation due to which precious lives of admitted patients have been put at stake.
This was revealed when the Vice Chancellor, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU), Larkana, Prof. Dr. Aneela Attaur Rahman visited the ward along with the head of department Prof. Bashir Ahmed Shaikh and others.
She was told by Prof. Shaikh that minor unsatisfactory repair was carried out last year but even then cemented bars fell down in which one patient was also injured on 16th June 2021. He further told her that several complaints have since been sent to the CMCH Medical Superintendent (MS) but nothing has been done. He said if the same conditions prevailed then he feared loss of innocent patients’ lives who come here to get specialized medical treatment to save their lives and most of them are poverty-stricken.
Ms Dr Abdul Sattar Shaikh said that they have written several times to the provincial health department for release of M and R funds but no response has been given as yet. VC said being head of the CMCH Hospital Management Committee, she will also write a letter to the health secretary to sanction required funds immediately to save human lives who arrive here to get treatment.
During the visit to the Ward, it was also found that a large number of outdated government vehicles were parked aside in the CMCH Transport Section which looked unusual because instead of auctioning them as scrap, the authorities have kept them unnecessarily creating nuisance and open for thieves to steal their various spare parts.
