Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has reached Mashhad city of Iran to participate in the 28th meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).

The Vice Governor General of Razavi Khorasan Province, Mohammad Ali Nabipoor, along with Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran, Mudassir Tipu, accorded a warm welcome to him upon his arrival at the airport.

The ECO meeting brings together member states to discuss and strengthen economic and regional cooperation in various sectors.

The Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) is a regional intergovernmental organization established in 1985 by Iran, Pakistan, and Turkey. It aims to promote economic, technical, and cultural cooperation among its member states. Over the years, the ECO has expanded to include seven additional countries: Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, making it a platform for fostering regional integration and sustainable development.

The Council of Ministers, the highest decision-making body of the ECO, meets annually to evaluate progress, discuss policy initiatives, and set future agendas. The 28th meeting of the Council in Mashhad, Iran, provides an opportunity for member states to deliberate on issues such as trade facilitation, energy collaboration, environmental sustainability, and transportation development in the region.

Pakistan, as a founding member of the ECO, plays a pivotal role in the organization’s activities. Deputy Prime Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar’s participation reflects Pakistan’s commitment to fostering regional cooperation and addressing shared challenges through collaborative efforts.
