Deputy Prime Minister (PM) and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Saturday commended the dedication and commitment of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to the women empowerment and its unwavering focus on girls’ education in the Islamic countries.

He was talking to the OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha, who called on him here in Islamabad. The OIC Secretary General is visiting Islamabad to participate in the International Conference on ‘Girls’ Education in Muslim Communities: Challenges and Opportunities’.

During the meeting, they discussed the situation in Gaza and the Middle East, Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Afghanistan, Islamophobia, discrimination and violence against Muslims across the globe and the role of the OIC in that regard.

Highlighting the grim human rights situation in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Deputy Prime Minister expressed appreciation for the OIC’s principled position and consistent support for the just struggle of Kashmiris for their right to self-determination.

He commended the appointment of OIC’s Special Envoy on Islamophobia to help coordinate the work of the Organization and its Member States for addressing discrimination against the Muslims all over the world.
