DC Gwadar reviews progress on uplift schemes

QUETTA:The meeting, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Gwadar, Maj (Retd) Abdul Kabeer Khan Zarkoon, reviewed the progress on development schemes and issues related to procurement of machinery for Municipal Committees.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday, Executive Engineer, Communication and Works Department, Akram, Assistant Director, Local Government, Dost Muhammad Baloch, Deputy Director Agriculture, Farm Water Management, Chakar Khan, Deputy District Education Officer, Azizullah, Sub Divisional Officer, Public Health Engineering Department, Shiraz Baloch, Director Finance, GIEDA, Waqas and other concerned authorities attended the meeting.

Deputy Commissioner, Gwadar was briefed by the officers of all line departments on the ongoing and completed development schemes. Executive Engineer, Irrigation, Junaid Gichki briefed the Deputy Commissioner on the physical progress and construction of dams in the coastal areas of Gwadar. The Deputy Commissioner was apprised of the construction work of the safety barrier to keep Pasni safe from sea erosion. Briefing regarding overall status of progress on other development projects like Dossi Dam, Shinzani Dam and Basul Dam, which were initiated with special interest by Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan was given.

The Executive Engineer Irrigation said that in order to prevent sea erosion, contractors at the project site had started work on the project by delivering machinery on priority basis. Deputy Commissioner, Gwadar expressed satisfaction over development projects under the supervision of Irrigation Department.

The Deputy Commissioner was also informed that orders had been issued to improve the revenue situation and recovery of irrigation water from the landlords in the coastal areas of Shadi Kur Dam and other suburbs which would improve water supply facilities, and boost livestock sector in coastal areas The meeting was informed that under the development program for the financial year 2020-21, the Local Government Department consideration was also given to the extension and extension of the grant provided by the Chief Minister for the purchase of machinery for the Municipal Committees of Jiwani, Pasni, Ormara and Gwadar Tehsils of Gwadar District.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the local government Officers that the Chief Minister of Balochistan had issued orders to the Jiwani, Pasni, Ormara and Gwadar Municipal Committees to prepare a mechanism for ensuring transparent tendering and proper utilization of funds of Rs. 60 million grant for purchase of machinery. Assistant Director, Local Government, Dost Muhammad Baloch while giving briefing to the Deputy Commissioner, said that during the last two years, no development funds had been allocated to the Municipal Committees.

The Municipal Committees were providing services to the masses despite limited resources. Director GEIDA, Waqas briefed the Deputy Commissioner on GIEDA plan for providing basic infrastructure facilities on 300 acres of Karwat Industrial Zone and future plans for industrial development.
