Decrease in Terrorism and Crime incidents during the last 10 months: Police Report

Peshawar, November 21, 2019 (PPI-OT): During the last 10 months of current year 2019, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has witnessed a significant decrease in the incidents of terrorism and other crimes as compared to correspondent period of last year. According to the statistics, 6 incidents of kidnapping for ransom took place during the current year as compared to 11 in the year 2018. Thus, the incidents of kidnapping for ransom dropped by 45% as compared to last year.

Moreover 18011 proclaimed offenders have been arrested during the year 2019 as compared to 16613 in the year 2018 which are 1398 more in numbers. Similarly, a total of 1568 theft and 73 extortion cases occurred during the current year as compared to 1587 theft and 75 extortion cases of the correspondent year. Likewise 23 cases of vehicles snatching took place during the current year as compared to 28 cases of last year. A total of 4896 incidents of aerial firing reported during the year 2019 as compared to 5693 incidents of the year 2018 which are 797 less in numbers.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has adopted an offensive-cum-defensive policy for combating terrorism. During the current year, 72 incidents of terrorism took place as compared to 75 incidents of correspondent period of the last year which showed 4% decrease in the terrorism incidents.

And last but not the least, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police also gave tough time to Narcotics Peddlers. A total of 19291.681 kg narcotics (Charas, Heroin, Ice) were recovered during the current year as compared to 16221.632 kg narcotics of last year which is 3070.049 kg more in numbers.

Similarly, 27077 cases were registered in violation of Arms Act as compared to 25347 cases of last year which is 1730 more in numbers. During the current year 2006 dynamites were recovered as compared to 706 in the previous year which are 1300 more in numbers. Under the National Action Plan Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police also showed excellent performance. During the current year 1410 cases were registered against hotels owners in violation of Hotels and Serais Act as compared to 1319 cases of the year 2018 which is 91 more in numbers. This year 12524 cases were registered in TIF as compared to 12490 cases of the year 2018.
