Defence and Kashmir Solidarity Day observed at Embassy of Pakistan, Tunis

Islamabad, September 06, 2019 (PPI-OT): The Defence Day to commemorate the 54th anniversary of the 1965 war was observed at Embassy of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Tunis today. Addressing on the occasion, Ambassador Muhammad Hassan paid homage to the Armed Forces of our country, who had fought valiantly in 1965 War, says a press release received from Tunis her today. Highlighting the sacrifices and valour rendered by the Armed Forces in the defence of the motherland, the Ambassador stated that the Defence Day this year had a special significance as it was being celebrated in solidarity with Kashmiri people who were enduring the worst kind of Indian brutalities in the Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOK).

He said that the Indian atrocities in IOK were a manifestation of the rising tide of right-wing extremism in India under the divisive ideology of Hindutva which manifested itself through increasing incidents of violence against Muslims and other religious minorities. The Ambassador stressed that the Government and the people of Pakistan reaffirmed their continued and resolute moral, diplomatic and political support to the oppressed people of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir in their valiant struggle for realization of the fundamental right to self-determination.

The Ambassador called upon the international community to be cognizant of its responsibilities and press India to end its brutalities in the IoK and fulfill its obligations under UN Security Council resolutions. A documentary on the Indian Atrocities in IoK and a photo exhibition on Jammu and Kashmir were also organized on the occasion.
