Delegation of Senior officers of Sri Lanka in Pakistan for executive training course paid study visit to Central Police Office

Lahore, September 19, 2019 (PPI-OT): Senior officers of Sri Lanka on tour to Pakistan paid a visit to Central Police Office delegation was briefed about the operations and working of Punjab Police. In the delegation, there were twenty senior officers of different official departments of the Sri Lanka along with officers from Executive Development Institute, Dean of Pakistan Sameera Yaseen with other six senior officers. Addl IG operations Punjab Inam Ghani briefed the delegation about working system of Punjab Police and told that the adoption of modern projects based on information technology and timely reforms in Punjab Police have updated its capacity to meet contemporary challenges whereas policy of zero tolerance is being followed against professional criminals and terrorists in order to protect lives and properties of people.

He further said that formation of specialized forces like CTD, SPU, Dolphin, Peru, SOU and Anti Riots Force have proved helpful in maintaining supremacy of law, eliminating terrorism and crimes from the society. Addl IG told that by following rules of smart and community policing, the training syllabus and recruitment policy of the force have been upgraded whereas Khidmat Marakiz have been established across the province after separating public service delivery from police stations in view of wide public interest. Through these Khidmat Marakiz facilities of character certificates, Tenants Registration Act with other 14 services are being provided under one roof.

While answering to queries of Sri Lankan delegation Addl IG operations Punjab Inam Ghani told that the ratio of women police officers and officials in police department is increasing yearly and they are also serving as District Police Officer in different districts and also serving as SHOs in small cities. He further said that with the help of information technology based projects like safe city project, front desk, police Khidmat Marakiz, criminal records management system, human resource management system and 8787 complaints management system with other projects, the working system of Punjab Police have been set in accordance with the modern parameters and also other provinces of the country have made these modern software system an integral part of their police force.

He moreover said that school of investigation has been established at Police Training College Chung Lahore for improving the investigation system on scientific basis whereas on the basis of zero tolerance policy actions are being taken according to National Action Plan against defunct and proscribed organizations and their facilitator. Sri Lankan delegation asked the questions regarding recruitment policy of Punjab Police, training system and other queries related to the subject. The delegation also praised the 8787 complaint centre and front desk projects. In the end of the visit, honorary shields were exchanged between Punjab Police, Executive Development Institute and Sri Lankan delegation. On this occasion, DIG Operations Captain retired Atta Muhammad was also present.
