DeM expresses concern over Aasiya’s deteriorating health

Srinagar, June 30, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) has expressed concern over the deteriorating health condition of its illegally detained party Chairperson, Aasiya Andrabi. A DeM spokesperson in a statement issued in Srinagar said that on the court orders, the police took Aasiya Andrabi, who is under illegal detention along with her associates, Nahida Nasreen and Fehmeeda Sofi, for the past more than two months, for medical check-up in a police hospital. “At the hospital, the doctors said that Aasiya Andrabi’s condition is not good and they suggested medication and a hygienic environment for her to recover,” she added.

The spokesperson said the DeM Chief is an asthma patient, suffering from heart enlargement and other multiple ailments so she needs regular check-ups and a hygienic environment. As all of us know the required treatment is not possible as long as Aasiya Andrabi continues to remain in custody, she added.

She said that Aasiya Andrabi was in a critical condition due to continued detention for the past three years. “This is nothing but political vengeance. Denying proper medical care to the DeM chairperson is a well-thought-out conspiracy of the Indian government that wants to kill her in detention,” she said. “This family has been specifically targeted as India knows that they will never budge and will continue to oppose its illegal rule with full force,” she added.
