Demo held against delay in seven-month salary of child hospital staff

KARACHI:The employees of Sindh Government Children Hospital North Nazimabad staged a protest demonstration on Monday for payment of seven-month salaries.

 

Around 400 employees, including doctors , staff nurses , and paramedical staff, working under Poverty Eradication Initiative (PEI) have not been paid salaries since seven months by the hospital administration. The hospital administration has also closed the OPD, emergency and intensive care units since last four months due to financial crises.

 

The protesters were carrying banners and placards inscribed with different slogans like pay salaries, stop injustice with employees , our children are hungry.

 

Ameer Jamaat-e –Islami Karachi Hafiz Naeemur Rehman visited Sindh Government Children Hospital North Nazimabad and expressed solidarity with unpaid doctors, nurses and paramedical staff.

 

Addressing the protesters, Rehman said over 2,500 children were being treated in the hospital daily basis but the authorities concerned had stopped the budget of the hospital since several months over audit issue.

 

He alleged that the provincial minister for health Sindh was the responsible for this mismanagement, so the court should take notice of this issue. He announced that Jamaat-e-Islami stood with the hospital staff and demanded of the Sindh government to release budget of the hospital in three days; otherwise, JI will hold a sit-in outside Chief Minister House.
