KARACHI: Students of IX and X classes of Municipal High School held a protest demonstration in their school Thursday against unavailability of electricity in their classrooms since the beginning of their classes three days ago. They chanted slogans for failure of the school administration to provide them uninterrupted power supply in this scorching heat.
Students Tufail Ahmed, Ali Raza Abro, Nusrat Dahani and others said that since past three days their classes are running without electricity in this hot weather where mercury has shot up to 51 degrees. They alleged that few of their class fellows have fainted in the classroom due to heat but even then they are forced to attend classes under SOPs which is unjust.
When the school headmaster was contacted he shifted the responsibility to Education Works Department and deputy commissioner, Larkana. He said he has written a letter to the Education Work Engineer and deputy commissioner to restore the electricity supply to the school but they have done nothing as yet due to which students and their education is suffering very seriously as they cannot attend classes regularly and will abscond till power supply is made available.
