Democracy a distant dream in occupied Kashmir: DFP

General Official News

Srinagar, March 24, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party has said that banning of political activities has made the atmosphere suffocative in the territory where people are compelled to shoulder the coffins on daily basis.

The DFP spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the future of democracy was bleak in Kashmir. “Authorities have jailed leaders like DFP Chairman Shabbir Ahmad Shah and people have been left at the mercy of the men in uniform who have been set free to silent the masses by using whatever means they like to use,” he added.

The spokesman condemned the silence of the world forums over the Kashmir situation. “It seems as if Kashmir is not the part of the world community and Kashmiri people are not being considered as human beings. He said the whole world has turned into a mute spectator and the genuine democratic rights of the people of Kashmir are being denied at an institutional level. The spokesman appealed to the human rights organisations across the globe to take note of human rights violations in Kashmir.
