Democrat Joe Biden wins US Presidential election

Islamabad, November 08, 2020 (PPI-OT): Democrat Presidential candidate Joe Biden has won the US presidential elections to become the 46th president of country by defeating Donald Trump after a neck to neck contest. According to unofficial results, Biden has crossed the required number of 270 electoral college votes. The election has seen the highest turnout since 1900. Joe Biden has received over 74 million votes so far, the most ever for a US presidential candidate.

Following his victory, Joe Biden said it was now time for America to “unite and heal”. His running mate, Kamala Harris, is set to become the first woman vice-president. Donald Trump has secured more than 70 million votes, the second-highest tally in history. The result makes Trump the first single-term president since the 1990s. Biden supporters converged on the streets in New York and other cities to celebrate victory.
