DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar says SBP planning to organise Punjab Games in 2019

Lahore, November 29, 2018 (PPI-OT): Director General Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar said Sports Board Punjab (SBP) will continue to play its due role for the promotion of sports in the province. “We are planning to organise Punjab Games in 2019,” he said this while addressing the Unique Group of Schools Sports Gala at Punjab Stadium. Director Sports Hafeez Bhatti and a large number of young students, Unique Group officials and parents were also present there. DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar distributed prizes among the top performers of the event.

Addressing the Unique Group of Schools Sports Gala ceremony, Director General Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar said importance of sports has increased in the present day life. “Our young generation must take part in maximum sports activities to keep themselves fresh and fit,” he added.

DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar said SBP has initiated several sports programmes so that talented players of the province can demonstrate their sports abilities in a proper way. “SBP’s Annual Sports Calendar Inter-Tehsil competitions are under way across the Punjab province. Inter-District events will start from Dec 23. SBP’s Annual Sports Calendar competitions will conclude in May, 2019,” he informed. “Besides this, the major event of Punjab Games is also part of our next year’s planning. A large number of talented players are expected to feature in Punjab Games,” he added.

DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar disclosed that SBP is planning to initiate one-month camps of seven big games from Jan 1, 2019. “Qualified coaches and trainers will impart top level training to athletes in these camps. After proper training, we will hand over a pool of talented players to different federations for their national or regional teams”.

DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar appreciated school principals, teachers and other officials for bringing a large number of young students in the grounds. “I’m happy to see such a large participation of young boys and girls in sports gala. It’s relatively hard to bring kids to grounds in today’s modern life”.
