A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah to review the progress on the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone. The Chief Minister termed the zone as crucial for Sindh’s economy and directed the provision of international-standard facilities for investors.
According to the Spokesperson of the CM House, meeting was attended by the Chief Minister’s Special Assistant Qasim Naveed Qamar, Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, Chairman P and D Najam Shah, DG Public-Private Unit, and CEO Sindh Economic Zones Management Company Abdul Azeem Aqili.
The Chief Minister further stated that due to the China-US trade tensions, Chinese industrialists are looking for alternative locations, and the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone holds a preferential status under CPEC. This zone will provide a stable and business-friendly environment to attract foreign industries to Sindh.
He instructed the relevant departments to expedite construction work and emphasized the need for regular updates on the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone. The Chief Minister stressed the importance of making the facilitation system within the zone effective.
The meeting was informed that the work on the basic infrastructure of electricity, water, and gas in the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone is in its final stages, and so far 12% of the construction progress has been made.
The Chief Minister mentioned that an investment of 2 to 3 billion dollars is expected from the zone, and approximately 100,000 new job opportunities will be created, ushering in a new era of prosperity and development for local people.
He stated that the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone is a significant step towards Sindh’s economic self-sufficiency.
