Pakistan has issued a powerful condemnation of Israel’s interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla, a massive humanitarian convoy en route to Gaza, labeling the action a ‘flagrant violation of international law’ and a direct threat to the lives of nearly 500 civilian activists on board.

In a formal communiqué released by the Foreign Office on Thursday, Islamabad characterized the Israeli move as part of an ‘ongoing pattern of aggression and illegal blockade of Gaza.’ The government warned that the unlawful detention of activists endangered innocent civilians.

The civilian-led mission, comprising more than 40 vessels, was carrying urgently needed aid supplies for the besieged Palestinian territory. The statement underscored that the obstruction of essential humanitarian relief represents a ‘grave breach’ of Israel’s obligations under the Fourth Geneva Convention.

Reiterating its firm stance, the Pakistani government urged the global community to press for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire across all occupied Palestinian territories. The declaration further called for the complete lifting of the Gaza blockade and the prompt release of all detained humanitarian workers and flotilla activists.

Islamabad also demanded that the unhindered delivery of aid be guaranteed and that Israel be held accountable for its repeated violations of international statutes and humanitarian principles.

The statement concluded by reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people’s quest for self-determination. It called for the establishment of an independent, sovereign, and contiguous Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif serving as its capital.
