District Food Authority Attock has thwarted the distribution of harmful ice cream products during an unannounced inspection near Hassanabdal.

a team led by Additional Director General Asif Dogar uncovered alarming conditions at three ice cream production units and a bakery on Tuesday, resulting in the destruction of products worth millions of rupees.

The authority seized 300 kg each of ice lollies and frozen ice cream from the premises, which were subsequently sealed. In addition to destroying the contaminated products, the team imposed a hefty fine of Rs 650,000 on the operators of these facilities.

An additional Rs50,000 fine was levied due to unhygienic conditions, including visible fungus on walls, and the use of adulterated sugar in the production process. These products were intended for distribution within the district and its surroundings.

The spokesman for the authority emphasized that the public can report any food safety concerns through the dedicated helpline number 1223.
