(District): LG employees awaiting salaries

Larkana: Thousands of employees of over 300 municipal committees, town committees and 1,440 union councils across Sindh are still awaiting payment of their salaries despite passage of nine days after the Sindh government’s notification issued on 31st August, 2020, sent home all the elected local bodies chairmen, vice chairmen, mayors and deputy mayors.

These employees have been constantly protesting for issuing their monthly salaries online as is being done in the case of all other government servants but despite Sindh Chief Minister’s approval finance department has taken no serious efforts to implement the orders of the provincial head.

OZT installment was released due to Muharram on 28th August by Sindh government and all other government servants were paid salaries through an online system but these employees are continuously treated step-motherly despite performing essential cleanliness duties.

This discrimination has ruined the future of their families, said Hafiz Mushtaque Ahmed Korejo, Central Leader, Shah Lateef Local Government Employees Federation, while talking to this scribe on Friday.

He said even pensioners were being paid through online system then why discrimination with LG employees. He said the government had not so far posted administrators but poor employees of union councils, municipal and town committees were suffering for no fault of theirs at all due to sheer negligence of others.

He demanded immediate payment of salaries to thousands of LG employees and making their salaries online without further loss of time so that corruption could be eliminated in the funds allocated to these civic agencies.

He further demanded that either the government should appoint administrators quickly or charge should be handed over to CMOs so that official work is carried out regularly with making monthly salaries’ payment through online system.
