Dozen more including 3 JI leaders arrested in IOK

Srinagar, March 04, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Indian police arrested a dozen more Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leaders and religious scholars in several areas including Jammu region. Indian police during house raids arrested eight persons including two ulemas Maulana Noor Ahmad Trali, chairman of Dar-ul-Uloom Noor-ul-Islam Tral and Ghulam Nabi Molvi, khateeb of Jamia Masjid DardsaraTral in Pulwama, Shopian and Islamabad districts.

The police also detained Muhammad Asif Tak; Naseer Ahmad Malik; Farooq Ahmad Butt, Shabbir Ahmad Tantray and Muhammad Shafi Khan in Balpora, Wathoo and Poterwal Shopian district and a retired lecturer and now Ameer, tehsil Bijbehara, Ali Muhammad Butt from Wupzan in Bijbehara. The authorities also sealed district and tehsil offices of Jamaat in Pulwama, Shopian, Islamabad, Kulgam, Tral and Pampore areas, last week.

In the past 10 days, the police have detained more than 400 Jamaat-e-Islami activists in the Valley – 200 of them from southern areas. The day-long raids on the offices and houses of JI leaders and activists were conducted in Kishtwar, Doda, Ramban, Poonch, Rajouri and Jammu districts on Saturday, during which a large quantity of documents were seized, a police officer said. He said at least six bank accounts were also immediately frozen.
