Islamabad, November 12, 2019 (PPI-OT): The 21st Meeting of the 8th Wage Board Award was held under the Chairmanship of Mr. Justice Hasnat Ahmad Khan at Islamabad today. The worthy Chairman as well as all the members of the Board welcomed participation of Dr. Lubna Shahnaz in today’s meeting as Wage Advisor and thanked Dr. Sahiba for accepting the challenge to work as Wage Advisor of the Board. On the direction of the worthy Chairman, the Secretary of the Board furnished separate and complete sets of copies of oral as well as documentary evidence produced by both the parties during the whole proceedings of the Board to Mr. Hameed Haroon, learned member of the Board, as well as Dr. Lubna Shahnaz, the learned Wage Advisor of the Board.
Both the parties will present judgements of superior courts in their favour respectively in the next meeting. Mr. Nasir Chishti, learned member representing the employees, will submit data on the issue of prevalent rates of Wages of other comparable employments. The worthy Chairman pointed out that none of the parties has submitted proposed award in the light of the decision made in the last meeting. At this stage both the parties were again requested to do the needful in the next meeting for the assistance of the Board including the Wage Advisor who has attended today’s meeting for the first time. Both the parties discussed the contours of forthcoming award at some length so that newly appointed Wage Advisor can hear and understand the stance of both the sides before finalizing her report.
It was resolved by the Board that next meeting of the Board would be held on 21st November, 2019 followed by consecutive meetings spreading period of three days from 9th to 11th December, 2019. Considering the fact that extended term of the Board is going to expire in the last week of December, it was also resolved that none of the parties / members would seek adjournment of the aforesaid meetings.
It was further resolved that both the parties will be at liberty to produce their respective advocates in the next meetings to assist the Board. Apart from the Chairman of the Board the meeting was attended by Messrs. Hameed Haroon (Dawn Group), Asif Zuberi (Business Recorder), Nasir Chishti (Daily Jang), Shoaib Uddin (Member PFUJ, Workers), Shahzada Zulfiqar (Member Executive Council PFUJ of Baluchistan), Dr. Lubna Shahnaz, Wage Advisor and Mr. Waseem Abbas, Secretary to the Wage Board.
