QUETTA:Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan, has said that peasants carry immense significance in the economy of a country and productivity of food.

In his message issued here on Friday on the eve of the International Peasant Day, Khan said in order to increase productivity of uncultivated lands, drip irrigation and tunnel farming was being promoted. He said the construction of Kacchi Canal, Merani Dam, Sabakzai Dam and other dams would help bring large swath of lands under cultivation.

He said in order to increase per acre productively, the government of Balochistan was constructing metaled ponds, drains and pipelines. The CM said that the incumbent provincial government was going to provide eight lac bulldozer hours to growers for cultivating their lands.

A meeting to review one year progress of different vertical programmes of provincial health department in collaboration with UNICEF was held in the conference hall of Planning and Development Department here on Friday.
