(ECP provides equal opportunities to all citizens to exercise their right to vote)

Islamabad:Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has said that it is working to provide equal opportunities to all citizens to exercise their right to vote including persons with disabilities.

This was stated by ECP’s Secretary Omar Hameed Khan while addressing an event held here on Thursday in connection with International Day of Disability.

He said steps are being taken for inclusive elections for strong democracy in the country and to increase the participation of women and person with disabilities and other marginalized groups in the electoral roll process.

He said 344885 citizens with disability are registered with ECP including 260152 male and 84733 female voters. He said the ECP is also working effectively in collaboration with National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to include all disabled persons in the electoral roll.
