Efforts afoot to resolve fisheries, coastal issues

QUETTA: Imran Gichki, Secretary, Fisheries and Coastal Development Department, Balochistan, has said that Fisheries and Coastal Department was one of the biggest revenue generating departments of the province, therefore, concerted measures were being adopted to streamline the affairs of the department.

These views were expressed by him while talking to PPI here on Tuesday. He said that strict action against illegal trawling in the maritime domain of the province had been taken which would further be intensified.

He said that proposal to the competent authority had been submitted to the competent authority to train levies force of coastal areas of the province, adding that trained levies personal of coastal belt would be brought under the administrative control of Fisheries and Coastal Development Department, Balochistan with the task of taking action against illegal trawling and safeguarding the interest of fishermen.
