Efforts to Expand EV Charging Infrastructure Laudable: FPCCI

Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Vice President Aiman Paracha has lauded the Ministry of Climate Change and environmental coordination efforts aimed at promoting electric vehicles (EVs) in Pakistan and reducing reliance on conventional fuels. He stated that increasing EV charging facilities, promoting large-scale conversion of motorcycles, and offering financial incentives can improve EV accessibility and affordability. The administration’s work in this sector is commendable.

Paracha acknowledged the lack of EV charging facilities in cities as a major obstacle. However, Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and FPCCI’s Standing Committee on Energy Convener Malik Khuda Bux are actively working to deploy charging stations. The Malik Group, in partnership with China, is investing in EV charging stations and plants across the country, which will aid in the transition to electric transportation.

Paracha emphasized the importance of a strong policy supporting the conversion of all types of vehicles to electric power due to rising fuel prices. He urged the federal government to implement a comprehensive policy for reliable EV infrastructure for at least five years.
