Emergency declared in megacity hospitals

KARACHI: Sindh Health Department has declared emergency in all hospitals of Karachi and directed the staff (medical, nursing and paramedical) availing Eid ul Fitar holidays to rush towards the health facilities in order to treat the survivors of PIA aircraft that crashed in Model Colony, Karachi.

All district health officers of Karachi were also required to move/send medical teams and ambulances with all necessary medication/oxygen, etc., to the site of incident.

The Medical Superintendents of the hospitals were instructed to keep high alert in the emergency department of their hospitals and make all required medicines available, besides, calling required specialist doctors and faculty staff of attached Medical College to treat the injured. The Burns Centre, Civil Hospital Karachi, (for adults) and National Institute of Child Health (for children) were also kept on Red Alert for the burn patients.

Police Surgeon Karachi has directed to send teams for taking DNA samples of the burned dead bodies from the hospitals with the support of forensic medicine department faculty of concerned medical colleges and make medico legal officers alert to prepare medico legal record of the deceased and injured.
