Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Sindh’s Minister for Energy, was the chief guest at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) Workers, organized by the Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ) Workers. The event gathered prominent leaders from the journalism community, including Dr. Saadia Kamal, Vice President of PFUJ Workers, Shahid Ali, Secretary General of PFUJ Workers, Shakeel Kango, President of KUJ Workers, Jahangir Aslam, President of RawalpindiIslamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ) Workers, and Syed Bilal Izzat Naqvi, General Secretary of RIUJ Workers, Habib Uddin Junaidi, PPP labour Leader, Amin.Yousuf Ex.Secretry.General PFUJ, Syed.Mazhar.abbas. ex.Governing body member. KUJ, sr.journalist.

In his address, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah emphasized his strong, longstanding relationship with the media and reiterated PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s directive to ensure that media workers are paid their due salaries. Shah reaffirmed the PPP’s commitment to supporting journalists and ensuring their welfare, stating that a strong media workforce is crucial for the party’s and the nation’s growth. He praised the role of unions in safeguarding the rights of media workers and pledged the party’s continuous support.

Mazhar Abbas, senior journalist and anchorperson, expressed deep regret over the division within PFUJ and paid tribute to the late Pervez Shaukat for his integrity and contributions to the journalists’ movement. Abbas highlighted the importance of a united and strong PFUJ, noting that empowering media workers, rather than solely strengthening media owners, is essential for the media industry’s success and the strengthening of political parties, including the PPP.

During the event, PFUJ Secretary General Shahid Ali presented Syed Nasir Hussain Shah with a traditional Sindhi Ajrak as a mark of respect. In return, the minister presented an Ajrak to PFUJ’s Acting President, Dr. Saadia Kamal, symbolizing unity and goodwill between the leadership and the media community.

The meeting underscored the importance of solidarity among media workers and the critical role unions play in advocating for journalists’ rights in Pakistan. The presence of key union leaders from both Karachi and RawalpindiIslamabad reaffirmed the collective strength of the PFUJ Workers in safeguarding the future of media workers across the country.
