Dr. Javed Sheikh, Acting Chairman of the Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI), announced the launch of an EOBI Help Desk at the SITE Association of Industry every Monday.
According to a statement today, the initiative aims to assist members with resolving their EOBI-related issues effectively.
During his visit, Dr. Sheikh assured the association members that their representatives would be included in EOBI’s Board of Directors once it is restructured. He also highlighted the digital transformation of EOBI’s system, enabling registered units to directly input employee details and generate vouchers.
In his address, Dr. Sheikh emphasized the easing of audit procedures, noting that only 4% of registered units are audited nationwide, with audits now covering a two-year period. He also responded to employers’ concerns by proposing discussions with the federal government to address issues related to fixed contributions and gratuity payments.
Dr. Sheikh further revealed that the EOBI fund has reached 532 billion rupees, which is reinvested in various schemes, and that EOBI currently provides 5 billion rupees in monthly pensions to registered workers. He concluded by instructing the regional head to consult with the association before issuing notices under Section 81 of the EOBI regulations.
